In 2017 I made a mental note to read more books?. When I completed a book I would scribble the name in a notebook. When I reflected on my year, I was glad that I read more, but I didn’t feel a sense of accomplishment.
Looking back, how could I feel successful? I didn’t set a goal to achieve, I was just flying by the seat of my pant. Since I wasn’t striving for anything there was nothing to celebrate. Since my whole blog is focused on goal-setting and completing goals. I figured a book reading list would be a great place to start this goal setting journey.
This year, I’m setting a goal for myself and putting it out there for accountability. I’m going to challenge myself to read one book a month. This is a great exercise for me setting this bite size goal, since typically I like to go in guns blazing! I’m hoping I will surpass this number, but definitely don’t want to set myself up for failure so this will be a good place to start.
So enough blabbering in no particular order, here’s the list of books that I plan on reading in 2018.
?1. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life
?2. You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life
?5. Who Says You Can’t? You Do
?7. Hello Mornings: How to Build a Grace-Filled, Life-Giving Morning Routine
?8. Comfort Detox: Finding Freedom from Habits that Bind You
?9. A Simplified Life: Tactical Tools for Intentional Living
?10. Cultivate: A Grace-Filled Guide to Growing an Intentional Life
?11. Achieve Anything In Just One Year: Be Inspired Daily to Live Your Dreams and Accomplish Your Goals
?12. Goliath Must Fall: Winning the Battle Against Your Giants
Yay, I love book lists. I have read, I believe, up to 30 books in one year. A few years ago I said I’d do 50! But that was the year that I actually did less than I had in years… under 15 books. I realized that I was trying to shoot too high and become unfocused. Sometimes trying to achieve something becomes about perfectionism and what others will think than it is about actually enjoying it.
