How To Start A Blog For Beginners
Chapter 5
WordPress Themes
I could stay on this step forever and ever and ever! The thrill of looking at themes and swimming through the beautiful sea of options. I don’t want you to get lost at sea, so I will share a couple of my favorites so you can continue on your journey on how to install WordPress theme.
Before I dive into the fun of sharing my favorite themes I want to explain the two types of themes.
Premium Theme– Has all the bells and whistles and has a lot of flexibility. They are customizable and should be used if you are wanting to make any kind of money blogging.
Free Theme– is great if you’re just wanting to run a personal blog for fun. They typically aren’t customizable and if they are you have to code it yourself. If you’re not trying to generate an income with your blog this will be a perfect fit for you.
Now that you understand the difference let’s check out my favs.
I love the Premium WordPress themes at ThemeForest they have so many options no matter the niche you choose. They even have awesome plugins with extra bells and whistles, but we will talk about that later another chapter.
The theme for this site was found on ThemeForest if you love this theme as much as I do, you can check it out here.
I will always have a love for the Premium themes at StudioPress when I started building WordPress sites years ago they were the pioneer of quality themes. They continue to improve their templates through the years while adding an unlimited amount of themes for your blogging pleasure.
Some of my other websites I have I use StudioPress themes on them.
Among the many options at StudioPress and Themeforest, I know you’ll be able to find something to fit your needs.
After you purchase your theme, it’s usually a straightforward process to install.
Themes purchased from one of the above companies will provide instructions on how to install on your WordPress site.
If you get a theme from somewhere else that does not provide instructions it’s usually a straightforward process, but I’ve provided step by step instructions for you below. You can also choose to use one of the free WordPress themes, but I suggest using one of the above sites if possible.
